Concrete Girl is a novel about a construction project in northwest Pennsylvania, a missing college girl, fraudulent material substitution, and rape.
Mike Owen, a contractor from Ohio, is building a wastewater treatment facility that requires a large amount of concrete. A beautiful engineer, Ann Lane, manages Shaffer Ready-mix, the company supplying the project’s concrete. Mike is interested in more than a business relationship with his concrete supplier’s manager. A rival contractor, Woodbrier, who considers rape and murder just additional techniques for improving profits, wants to buy Shaffer Ready-mix. Ann offers to buy her employer’s concrete business. Violence erupts and bullets fly.
